BAE Systems
BAE Systems Saudi Arabia is responsible for all aspects of BAE Systems' activities and its long-term presence in Saudi Arabia.
There have been Saudi-British military aviation ties since the 1930s and the Company's involvement in Saudi Arabia can be traced back to the 1960s when BAE Systems made its first aircraft sales to the Kingdom.
In 1973, the Company embarked on its first readiness and sustainment contract in Saudi Arabia, providing support and manpower for Lightning and Strikemaster aircraft.
Between 1985 and 2006, BAE Systems Saudi Arabia was appointed prime contractor to the UK MOD, providing major hardware and support for Tornado, Hawk and PC-9 aircraft for the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) and UK-built mine hunters for the Royal Saudi Naval Forces (RSNF).
The agreement enhanced the government- to-government relationship between the Kingdom and the UK, and lead to the creation of the Saudi British Defence Co-operation Partnership (SBDCP) in 2007.
2007 also saw the governments of Saudi Arabia and the UK sign a contract for the supply of 72 Typhoon aircraft to the Kingdom - Project Salam, paving the way for the entry into service of Typhoon with the RSAF.
Commercial contracts include Tactica armoured vehicles for the National Guard and C4I for the Ministry of Defence and Aviation.
Working with customers, partners and the Saudi industrial sector, the business provides cost-effective solutions supported by in-country management and technical capabilities.
BAE Systems Saudi Arabia employs more than 5,100 people at eight locations in Saudi Arabia and at Samlesbury in the UK and more than 50 per cent of the employees are Saudi nationals.
IndustrialisationA key element of BAE Systems' approach to developing the Company's home markets is the policy of developing local capabilities and transferring technology.

In support of this activity, BAE Systems Saudi Arabia is working with industrial partners to support in-Kingdom industrialisation. Areas where this activity is taking place include:
